Mobsters

From Myspace Apps

MySpace Mobsters, also known as Mobsters, is a popular application on MySpace. Gameplay consists of recruiting your MySpace friends into your Mob, then building your Mobster by both completing missions and attacking rival Mobsters.

Contents

[edit] Starting Gameplay

Gameplay starts by installing the application to your MySpace account, then creating your Mobster. Your Mobster name must be chosen carefully, as it cannot be changed once established.

A Character Class must also be chosen; each has its own advantage:

  • Tycoon - will gain income 10% faster
  • Bulletproof - will regain health 10% faster
  • Insomniac - will regain energy 10% faster

[edit] Your Mobster

The top toolbar on the top of the game screen shows much information. From left to right:

  • Mobster name
  • Current and total Health points
  • Current and total Energy points
  • Current and total Stamina points
  • Cash on hand (but not Cash in The Bank, noted later)
  • The size of your Mob
  • Total Experience points
  • Current Level

Just to the right of the top toolbar is a link to 'My Stats', which will show more detail of your current Mobster profile, including Career Stats, Fight Stats, Achievements, and Weapons, Vehicles, and Properties owned.

There is one more button just to the right of 'My Stats'; the all-important 'Refresh' button. Refreshing is necessary to view the most-current versions of pages and stats.

[edit] Links Toolbar

The Links Toolbar is located at the top of the screen, just below the Top Toolbar. It contains the navigational links to the screens necessary for the management of your Mobster.

The links, and explanations:

[edit] Main

Actually lists the links on the Links Toolbar, and gives brief descriptions of each page.

At the bottom of this Main Page is a list of News Updates, listing who has attacked your Mobster, including the damage to your Health and the monetary loss.

[edit] Missions

The Missions Page lists the Descriptions, Payouts, and Requirements for each mission. The basic Mission is the Mugging, which has a payout of between $200 and $300, will gain your Mobster one Experience point, and requires one Energy point. More complex missions have much higher payouts, and return more Experience points, but require more Energy points, more Mob members, and some combination of weapons and vehicles.

As your Mobster progresses through the Levels, new missions will become available.

[edit] Territory

The Territory Page shows Territories that you own and Territories available to own. Territories can be purchased to provide an hourly income to your Mobster. Territories consist of Undeveloped Land, such as a Vacant Lot, and can be improved into Developments, such as Townhomes. Both Undeveloped Land and Developments earn income, although improving the land will increase the income derived. All Territories can be sold for half of the purchase price.

As your Mobster progresses through the Levels, new territories will become available.

[edit] The Bank

The Bank is an important part of the game. Funds earned by completing missions or attacking rival Mobsters can be deposited into The Bank. Money in The Bank cannot be taken by rival Mobsters.

An account at The Bank can be opened with a minimum of $10,000; subsequent deposits must be a minimum of $1,000. The Bank does take 10% of funds deposited, as a money-laundering fee. Funds can be withdrawn at any time, with no further penalty, except that The Bank requires a minimum of $2,000 in the account at all times. The maximum amount of money that The Bank will let you keep in your account is based on your level times $90 million up to level 500, and increases by $50 million for each level over level 500.

Doctors at the Hospital require that payment for their services be in 'clean money'; they only accept laundered money from The Bank.

[edit] Godfather

In return for certain accomplishments throughout the game, the Godfather will grant Favor Points to your Mobster; these can be exchanged for rewards, such as cash, equipment, or mob members.

Favor Points can also be 'earned', either by buying them outright, or by completing offers or surveys on other websites.

[edit] Fight

The Fight Page lists rival Mobsters at your level (if your Mobster is near the top of the current level, the list may show rival in the next level).

In a fight, the members of your Mob will arm themselves with the Equipment that your Mobster owns. The maximum number of weapons, vehicles, and special items taken into the fight is equal to your Mob size.

The maximum number of members from your Mob who can participate in a fight is limited to five times your Mobster's current level.

For the best chance of winning a fight, choose a Mobster with a Mob size equal to your own.

[edit] Hit List

The Hit List Page shows 'hits' that have been placed on other Mobsters. Successfully accomplishing the Hit will earn your Mobster the Bounty posted. Apparently there are Cash and Stamina minimums to placing a Hit.

A Mobster can place a Hit on themselves.*

  • Has peen patched so they may not place a hit on themselves on 9-8-08.

[edit] Equipment

The Equipment Page shows Weapons, Armor, and Vehicles that your Mobster owns, and others available for purchase. Each piece of Equipment specifically shows its Attack power, Defense power, Purchase Price, and, for some items, its Upkeep cost per hour. Equipment can be sold for half its Purchase Price.

As your Mobster progresses through the Levels, new Equipment will become available.

[edit] Hospital

The Hospital Page is where your Mobster can purchase Health, if necessary. Doctors require payment in 'clean money', from The Bank.

Apparently, the fee increases as your Mobster progresses through the levels.

It appears that when your Mobster's Health drops below 20% of maximum, they are sent to the Hospital. Being in the Hospital means that your Mobster cannot be attacked, and cannot attack rival Mobsters.

[edit] My Mob

The My Mob Page shows who is currently in your Mob. Also on this page is where you can send invitations to your Mob, and accept invitations from MySpace friends to join their Mob. A MySpace user must be your MySpace friend before you can sent them an invitation.

The game states that the maximum number of members in any mob is 500, but this has occasionally been exceeded.

[edit] My Mobster

Whenever your Mobster gains a new level, they are awarded Skill Points. Those Skill Points can be used on the My Mobster Page to upgrade Attributes, of your Mobster:

  • Attack Strength - One Skill Point increases Attack Strength by one
  • Defense Power - One Skill Point increases Defense Power by one
  • Max Energy - One Skill Point increases maximum Energy storage by one
  • Max Health - One Skill Point increases maximum Health storage by 10
  • Max Stamina - Two Skill Points increase maximum Stamina storage by one

At the bottom of the My Mobster Page is a section called Switch Mobsters/Start New Game. Up to three Mobsters can be created under the same MySpace account. The Mobsters share Favor Points, Mob members, and Achievements.

Also included is a link to 'Stats', which, like the link on the Top Toolbar, directs to the 'My Stats' page.

A mobster gains a level almost every 300 experience points.

[edit] Made Men

The Made Men Page shows lists of the top players in four categories:

  • Legendary Fighters (with Win Count)
  • Most Wealthy (with Bank Funds)
  • Most Deadly (with KO Count)
  • Top Bounty Hunters (with Head Count)

[edit] FAQ

The FAQ Page lists Frequently Asked Questions, and the answers to those questions.

[edit] Support

Support for MySpace Mobsters is available through a MySpace profile, known as The Godfather, or through email, at [email:support@mobstersapp.com support@mobstersapp.com].
